DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY

 OVERVIEW :

The Department of Pharmacology is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching for Medical, Nursing and Paramedical students .

 The postgraduate course was started in 2014 with intake of 3 postgraduates per year.

The department is well equipped with Experimental Pharmacology laboratory  with Computer Assisted Learning (CAL), Clinical Pharmacology laboratory, Research laboratory, Museum  and Library.

 The department also conducts  regular CMEs, workshops, guest lectures for the benefit of students and faculty. 

The Department of Pharmacology is designated as Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre (AMC) in 2020  by Government of India under National Pharmacovigilance Programme.The National Coordinating Centre, Ghaziabad has provided VigiFlow database access to the department through which data about adverse drug reactions are entered.

 

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Goals

To achieve excellent standards of quality education by keeping pace with rapidly changing technology and to inculcate a rational and scientific basis of therapeutics with capabilities of accepting new challenges.

Objectives

1. Select and prescribe drugs rationally based on suitability, tolerability, efficacy and cost of medicines for common ailments and emergency cases.

2. Effectively communicate with patients and their relatives about the proper use of medication devices and storage of medicines.

3. Recognize and report adverse drug events to the Pharmacovigilance center using approved ADR forms.

4. Encouraging the students for research activities
